Ink and Watercolor Wash Flowers
Do you love the look of loose line and wash flowers, but are unsure about how or where to start? Want to be able to easily draw flowers and create beautiful pen and watercolor pieces from scratch?
This beginner-friendly course is perfect for artists who're just getting started with developing their drawing and watercolor skills, as well as for intermediate artists looking to jump into the line and wash world.
✱ What You'll Learn:
-My 3-Step process for loose pen and watercolor florals
-How to use reference photos to inform your work
-How to simplify flowers into basic shapes in order to draw them successfully
-Must-know information and tips for success on: drawing with pen and ink, painting with watercolor, and combining pen with watercolor
-How to plan colors for your final pieces
-Composition tips for beginners for creating interesting, well-balanced artwork
✱ Supplies you'll need:
-Drawing pencil (I would recommend an H, HB, B)
-Soft graphite eraser
-Drawing pen (I use a 0.1 tip size)
-A drawing sketchbook or sheet of drawing paper
-Watercolor set
-Watercolor paper (I use Cold Press- 140 lbs.)
-Watercolor paintbrush (I use a size 10 round)
-Color mixing palette
-Water container
-Absorbent towel or regular kitchen paper towels
By the end of this course, you'll have created three separate loose line and wash floral pieces, one for each flower (Coneflower, Wild Rose and Daffodil).
Before jumping into the final projects, there are exercises to work on that'll help you have a smoother process and better outcome in your last pieces. In one of these exercises, I'll be walking you through drawing these three flowers using simple shapes, first with graphite pencil and then with pen/ink. In the second, we'll be choosing and swatching the colors that we'll be using for our final three pieces.
Each class in this course has its own downloadable checklist, fillable worksheet, template, outline sketches, reference photos, and/or photos of my sketches/final pieces.
I've included photos of my own exercises that you can use as references as you're working, as well as outline sketches whenever relevant, for practical classes.
Lecture-type classes include checklists and worksheets that you can print and fill in, as we're moving along.
Hope you enjoy and get a lot from this course. :)
